  • Abstract
A generalized bandwidth-efficient partial response system with a finite impulse response filter structure is proposed. The coefficients of the filter are optimized to achieve the maximum possible inband power of the transmitted signal. Analytical results are presented for filters with up to six taps. A substantial reduction of the out-of-band power can be achieved at the cost of a somewhat increased signal power and receiver complexity
