Abstract
The emerging cellular and wireless standards necessitate the development of multi-mode transceiver systems. The main challenge in such systems is to have a common frequency synthesizer architecture acting as the local oscillator. In this paper, we propose a multi-band delta-sigma modulator based synthesizer architecture. This novel synthesizer architecture has been successfully implemented in an RF-CMOS process. The synthesized frequencies include the GSM, PCS and DCS bands.
