Abstract :
An examination is made of two introduction scenarios as strategic programs for the introduction of a full fiber-optic access network. A comparison is made with the traditional demand driven scenario from the viewpoint of investment cost. Both strategic programs treat F-O (fiber optic) systems as the infrastructure of B-ISDN. The selected F-O system will, however, initially carry narrowband services: thus it is desirable for the F-O system to support multiple services per line using fiber capacity to accommodate any future service demands. The future demand of narrowband services is predicted and the optimum channel capacity per subscriber is determined for the F-O system
