Abstract
The authors have developed an optical molecular biosensor which substantially overcomes some of the major problems associated with optical immunosensors, i.e. non-specific binding, poor angular selectivity and background fluorescence. The device uses a single-mode ion-exchanged glass optical waveguide as the sensor substrate. The authors describe the device fabrication using planar technology and lithographic pattern definition
