Abstract
A kernel based handover optimisation techniques has been proven to reduce the number of handovers between indoor femtocell and outdoor macro cell by 65%. By suppressing unnecessary handovers, the techniques improve the network performance by detecting area where spurious handovers occurred. This paper presents the applications of this technique on the outdoor scenario between two macro cells. The simulation is performed to analyse the effectiveness of the learning process against time and user equipment velocity. The network performance is also evaluated, based on the several network performance indicator, i.e. uploads and downloads throughput and Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio for the signal coverage of the network. The algorithm is proven to be beneficial for outdoor scenarios and contributes to the improvement of the overall network performance.
