Abstract
One of the key problems of modern power engineering is the fast increase in electric power demands (It is expected to double by 2030). However this needed growing of power generation has to be received by reducing the carbon dioxide emissions that there is by using of traditional nonrenewable energy sources and is is a key source of the greenhouse effect. One of solving ways for above-mentioned problems is the improvement of power quality in AC networks that integrate the various electrical power sources (traditional and renewable). It could be achieved by designing of new multifunctional controllers of the AC electric power, so-called green electronics devices. The aim of this special session is presentation of new trends in power control, power quality improvement, and reduction of power losses. The papers about reactive power compensation, harmonic filters, balancing of currents in three-phase systems, improving of power factor, reduction of current and voltage distortion are invited. Different points of view and solutions for various types of conventional energy sources as well as the renewable sources, various converter topologies and drive structures are welcomed.
