Abstract
In many industries, the occurrence of short period power drops and fluctuations lead to many problems such as machine stoppage which increases amount of waste generation, product defects and reduction of productivity. This paper focuses on a research carried out to design and implement an Intelligent Automatic Switching Device for machinery in the event of power fluctuations. In the case of short term power dips or cuts the device reactivates the machinery automatically. The paper highlights the three main advantages of this automation, namely, minimizing waste generation, increasing productive time and minimizing defects. The concept developed through the research was applied to automate Weaving looms. The paper also looks at how this concept can be applied to suit any industry.
