Abstract :
A novel line monitoring methodology based on piezoelectric transformer (PT) is proposed. The frequency range of operation and magnitude levels for voltage sensing are discussed and experimental results are presented. The experimental results show that a PT sustains high input voltages at power-line frequency and steps it down while stepping up the transient high frequency tones. Hence, an unexplored low-frequency region of operation of the PT is exploited and proposed in line frequency measurement and disturbance monitoring.
