Abstract :
Lecture recordings have been used for teaching purposes for several years and different ways of distribution have been investigated at the universities in Osnabrueck. A blended learning approach based on lecture recordings has been developed over the years in which the audio and video recordings substitute the classroom lectures. Building blocks of that concept are podcasts, web lectures, electronic examinations and coaching sessions. In an intensive evaluation, advantages and drawbacks of the concept could be identified. With the integration of a classical instrument for teaching evaluation - Small Group Instructional Diagnosis (SGID) - we try to offer ways to overcome these drawbacks. This article describes an improved didactical approach of lecture-recording based learning. The concept presented here is in a phase of implementation and therefore, this article is more a conceptual work than presenting elaborated experiences.
