Abstract :
A Condition Monitoring (CM) Process is discussed, with a focus on the large 4 kV motors that are included in a nuclear utility´s Environmental Qualification (EQ) Program. Reasons are given for implementing a CM approach. Concepts are presented for evaluating test methodologies, with the intent of optimizing the overall CM Process. Steps include data gathering, creation of a database, performance of a sensitivity analysis, review for overlap in test coverage, and incorporation of the CM Program into an Expert System. Initial review have narrowed the program to four periodic tests, one of which may yet prove to be unnecessary
