Abstract :
This paper investigates the performance of a step and linear shared buffering strategy for wavelength routed optical network using an object oriented programming technique (OOP). In particular we relate the entire study with the wavelength routed switching matrix architecture by the used of an arrayed waveguide grating matrix (AWG), multiplexer (MUX), demultiplexer (DEMUX) and semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). The simulation result shows throughput and packet loss of different number of optical buffer with different offered transmission load for step shared buffer and linear shared buffer. In addition, we present an initial result of a novel architecture of an all optical buffer by re-circulating packets dynamically (FLB-FBG)
