Abstract
Self-fusing magnet wires of Class E heating resistance have been developed. It was found that the wires have self-fusing characteristics that did not change even after degradation. When applied to actual equipment, the wires can be used as fluorescent lamp ballasts of low cost and high reliability that do not require a thermal protector. This wire automatically makes the wires in the transformer short-circuited when the equipment in use is overheated beyond a given temperature rise limit, thereby making the current fuse function. Characteristics evaluated include fusing characteristics after overheating and smoke emission, and good characteristics were observed in all respects
