Abstract :
A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is one consisting of a set of mobile hosts capable of communicating with each other without the assistance of base stations. It is necessary to use bandwidth effectively because MANET has limited bandwidth. In this paper, we propose SMGS (source based multiple gateway selection routing protocol). It calculates the expected life time (EET) from the grid by using node´s location information and makes effectively connection path that selects source based gateway using EET. SMGS protocol also selects candidate node which has the biggest EET value and we use it to select gateway which leaves realistically the longest time each grid. Gateway selection algorithm reduces the number of gateway hand-off, packet loss and time delay. SMGS protocol also elects multiple gateways to reduce traffic concentration
