  • Abstract
The character thinning can greatly eliminate redundant information and improve the speed and accuracy of the character feature extraction. The paper proposes an algorithm for extracting characters´ central skeleton directly, which is based on the length of eight-direction and the line connected by inscribed circle center of the character segment, while the information of strokes is obtained. The experimental reports show that the proposed algorithm has good robustness and it can make the character thin stably and effectively.
