Abstract :
In many practical problems one encounters, especially in physics, the set of system equations can actually be obtained from one scalar function. All properties of the system trajectories are captured in this particular scalar function and so finding such a scalar function makes the study of the system far more tractable. The most common examples of such functions are the Lagrangians and the Hamiltonians. We study high order linear differential equations with constant coeffcients that can be obtained from quadratic functions of a certain form
