Abstract :
Today many utilities are still struggling with what functionality they should consider for distribution automation. This is a case study of how Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative (SSVEC), Willcox, AZ, addressed these issues. The process, used to decide which distribution functions should be automated, is discussed, along with the benefit/cost analysis for those functions for SSVEC and how the business case was developed. The business case for the functions selected for implementation by SSVEC is included along with an update on project status
