Abstract :
A robust method of beam pattern nulling is discussed in this paper. The method achieves required nulls in a specified direction by perturbing the amplitudes and the phases of the aperture distribution coefficients of the sum and difference channels. The technique is flexible enough to handle a very wide variety of pattern nulling problems since it minimizes antenna sidelobe levels in specified directions. The theory can be employed to discrete-angle nulling for the sum beam pattern, the difference beam, simultaneous sum and difference beam, and wide-angle nulling.
