Abstract :
The performance of PCS systems under microwave interference and vice-versa is analyzed. Typical values for operating microwave (MW) links and cellular systems are used for evaluation. The use of smart antenna systems to reduce the intersystem interference is proposed. The access techniques for PCS considered are: TDMA, FDMA and CDMA. The carrier to interference ratio is adopted as the performance criterion. The geographical separation required between both systems for their operation in terms of antennas separation is studied. Results regarding the CDMA PCS system capacity are presented
