Abstract :
Military avionics designers and policy makers are focusing on commercial hardware and software components as an opportunity to save development costs. However, such components are often designed without embedded computing applications in mind. Therefore, it can be problematical to evaluate commercial vendor performance gains in comparison to embedded computer system requirements. This paper ties together performance modeling methodologies for both computer types as a first step in answering such systems engineering questions
