  • Abstract
    A kind of practical optical fiber frost detection sensor and an intelligent defrost system based on the sensor is introduced. The frost sensor can measure the frost thickness and has advantages of low price, good consistency and easy to install. The intelligent defrost system can be used in refrigerator and other refrigeration equipment. It can be energy saving because it solves the aimless defrost of the mechanical timer defrost device in the existing refrigeration equipment. The working principle and the structure of the frost sensor is described at first. Then, it gives a series of experimental study results of the sensor based on a laboratory frost test platform, the experimental study verifies the sensor have a good consistency and strong anti-interference ability to prevent the ice interference. Finally, it describes the signal conditioning circuit of the intelligent defrost system, and gives the flow chart of MCU program.
