Abstract :
In this paper, we consider the problem to determine the optimal shutdown strategy for reduction of electrical power consumption in a computer system. Under the situation where the system receives requests of access in accordance with the Poisson process having the unknown intensity parameter, we prove analytically that the switching strategy is optimal in terms of the power-saving performance.
