Abstract :
This paper presents a communication framework for end-to-end seamless connections and TCP performance improvement in the IEEE802.il wireless home network platform exploiting dual wireless modes, infrastructure and ad hoc modes. While many ad hoc routing protocols for end-to-end seamless connections and cross-layer techniques available in the literature have been proposed at the level of protocol design and simulations, the availability of ad hoc routing protocol implementation is far from satisfying. The proposed communication framework is implemented as a virtual network device driver on the Linux operating system and evaluated to verify its application and efficiency. Practical experiments showed that the proposed communication framework yielded efficient performance in terms of low packet transmission failure rate, fast packet transmission time, and high TCP performance.
