Abstract :
This paper reviews the current state of use of digital NIS (network information system) among grid operators. Empirical findings reveal that more attention should be paid to the organizational issues. The paper argues, in line with existing literature, that workers´ understanding of the uses and application of data and the ICT-system is central for maintaining data integrity and achieving effective work practices. However, in complex data-use situations, use across organizational borders and organizational lag (from mergers, acquisitions and reorganizing) is an equally important factor for data integrity and more effective work practices as workers understanding per se. The way ahead for the businesses is to improving information flow between system owners and users, bettering data design, integrated data and task in a more radical way, and ground data in the cutting edge examples of organizational practices that can be found
