Abstract :
Summary form only given. Laser systems for industrial manufacturing show a stable market growth over the past years of approximately 20%. This development is supported in Germany by a broad spectrum of R&D activities, especially the "Laser 2000" program. Main research goals and topics of these activities will be illustrated in the talk: including high-power diode lasers, diode-pumped, solid-state lasers, new laser applications, and quality assurance by process control.
