Abstract :
Summary form only given. We report the use ofa dual transverse mode diode laser for the generation of THz modulated light. Simultaneous operation on both transverse modes and subsequent mode-locking of the longitudinal wavevectors of these modes leads to a frequency difference in the 0.5-1.0 THz range (depending on the waveguide design parameters.) We demonstrate nearly 100% self modulation at 0.84 THz with an output power of 1.9 mW.
