This paper analyzes the design features of subordinated debt issued by Chinese banks during 2003-2010, and shows their impacts on market discipline effect based on the comparison with the features of subordinated debt issued by American banks, and then from the view of market discipline summarizes the main problems in Chinese market of subordinated debt, finally gives some suggestions on improving the market discipline effect of subordinated debt in Chinese banks.
