Abstract :
This paper analyzes the effect of metamaterials on a cylindrical-rectangular microstrip patch antenna loaded with a superstrate. A layer of metamaterial is inserted between the substrate and the superstrate. The analysis is carried using the electric surface current method (ESCM) and results are presented as plots of the radiation pattern in the far field for different negative values of the permeability and permittivity. The effect of an air gap has also been investigated.
