Abstract :
The temporal dispersion of wideband radio channels has been investigated with a measurement campaign in the 1.89 GHz frequency band. The time delay spread, delay intervals, delay energy windows and coherence bandwidth of the channel have been calculated from the experimental power delay profiles. Narrow beam antennas at the receiver end have been used and comparison to omnidirectional antennas is also shown. Data collected in urban, suburban and rural environments show that shadowing from buildings cause signal spreading. Important reflections have been observed if there are metallic surfaces near the antennas
