Abstract :
Two small comparison test devices of solar still have been set up, and the effect of cover material on the solar still performance has been studied. The results show that under different cover materials, the condensation of water is formed in different ways, the contact surface areas and shapes between condensation drop and cover are different, and the effect of solar transmittance of cover is different. It is these reasons that make the temperature rise of seawater and yield of freshwater of still different sharply under different cover materials. Not all transparent materials are suitable for still cover, which corrects the previous concept, namely, the vague requirement of still operation principle and structure on cover material; cover material should be selected, which are film condensation, high transmittance, good hydrophilic and drain.
