  • Abstract
    This paper reports believed to be for the first time, measured gain values for a 2-4.8 GHz wideband pyramidal horn with double linear ridges. Comparison of these values with the theoretical values obtained by Schelkunoff´s gain formula leads to a ridge factor that can fairly bridge the gap between experiment and theory, except for the oscillations in the gain curve caused by multiple diffraction effects. Jull´s diffraction analysis is then employed in an attempt to account for the oscillations observed for this horn. A reasonable match is noted. This study can be extended to wideband pyramidal horns in other frequency bands, thereby leading to a possible generalization of gain formula for such horns.
