Abstract :
This paper is intended to give electronic professionals who may be unfamiliar with usability engineering, an overview of usability techniques. It focuses on setting goals for usability and measuring against these goals. The methods explored include: user walkthroughs; formal usability tests; benchmarking; and user attitude scales. A real life example of how some of these techniques were used in the development of the Hewlett Packard 8509A Lightwave Polarization Analyzer is given
