Abstract :
We demonstrated a novel optical modulator based on perfectly vertical grating coupler. The device exhibits low insertion loss of 5.4dB and on-off extinction ratio more than 20dB. Data transmission at 10Gb/s and 12.5Gb/s was demonstrated.
