Abstract :
In this paper a 8×8 dielectric resonator antenna phased array is designed for fixed RFID reader design at 5.8 GHz. Each element in the array has four supporting arms with perforated structure. The sequential feeding technique is used to improve the axial ratio and gain of the array. Near-field focusing technique is used to maximize the radiated power in a limited size spot at a distance of 40 cm from the array aperture by adding a proper phase shift to each element. The array provides 3-dB focus depth of 26 cm with SLL of -14.3 dB compared with SLL of -5.2 dB for uniformly phased array.
