Title :
Modern tube mill design and its influence on maintenance requirements
Author_Institution :
Krupp Polysius AG, Beckum, Germany
Abstract :
The author discusses modern cement tube mill design features, taking into account new technical developments regarding bearing and drive train design. It is noted that, due to increasing grinding mill sizes and rising operating and maintenance costs, the goals for the further development of this kind of equipment were mainly aimed at high operational reliability, low and easy maintenance, and low operating cost. Applying the Combiflex concept to the drive train provides the following features: no gear realignment necessary due to self-aligning pinions, no high-maintenance grease system, no grease consumption, no wearing parts within the drive train, and easy access to mill interior and to liner bolts
