Abstract :
In recent years,with the sharp increase of need for hazardous articles transportation, monitoring in real-time and early warning in time of dangerous conditions on the way of railroad transportations have urged the need for better and smarter monitoring mechanisms. Wireless sensor network(WSN),with such advantages as strong adaptability,easy and nimble deployment,low cost,and intellectualized characteristic,provides a novel scheme for resolving monitoring and early warning of hazardous articles transportation.This paper proposes a railway hazardous articles monitoring system based on wireless sensor network.We describe the overall system architecture and every function subsystem from design thoughts of hardware and software.For verifying the feasibility of the system,we design a prototype system for monitoring temperature and humidity of a kind of hazardous article in railway transportation. The preliminary experiments and actual application in China railway transportation system have proved that the system functionalities and features preferably meet the railway hazardous articles monitoring requirement.
