Abstract :
A speed estimation method is proposed for single phase induction motors in stationary reference frame. For that, the machine model is investigated in stationary reference frame first. Then, two equations are obtained to estimate the motor speed. Finally, the results of simulation and the DSP implementation of the method are presented. The experimental results in agreement with the simulation results validate the proposed estimation method. The estimated speed signal can be used in sensorless motor performance optimization and variable speed drives.
