Abstract :
The customer´s perception of the quality of a product is vital to a company´s success. Failing to reject unsatisfactory products which leads to failures in the field may damage the company´s reputation causing sales to suffer even though after incurring the expense of replacing the unsatisfactory products. Even though present day magnet wire is an excellent product, some product rejections may be caused by deficiencies in the magnet wire they contain. Therefore, both the quality and cost of the product may be improved by testing the wire. Improving the quality of the product, while at the same time reducing its cost, is an unbeatable combination. Only those magnet wire users who test the wire prior to incorporating it into their products are able to assure themselves that it is satisfactory and reject that which is not. Those who do not test the wire may discover problems later, or have their customers discover them as deficiencies in their finished products. The use of in-line test equipment that gives instant feedback would make the manufacturer immediately aware of bad wire, permitting them to take direct action to correct the problem and avoid producing more scrap. The types of test to be carried out are mechanical, electrical and chemical
