Abstract :
Currently, various types of mobile and satellite systems are widely applied and utilized. Interconnection of such communications systems and broadband communications networks is one possible solution how to provide multimedia services at geographically isolated points on the Earth. However, the LMS channel is characterized by high transmission delay (GEO, HEO), high bit error rate and burst nature of bit errors. It´s clear that, efficient error control mechanisms have to be used. ATM based on the cells transmission uses only a header error control algorithm to cover cell headers with single bit error correction ability. An interleaving method can by used to improve the ATM error control performance. A new ATM cell interleaving method is analyzed within the scope of this paper. The analysis is realized for all modes of the ATM header error control algorithm.
