Abstract
The paper presents an overview of wavelength handling functionality of optical networks enabling more efficient resource utilisation in such networks. A theoretical outline of routing enabling functions is followed by a brief description of traffic models that can be adopted for ASON. The theoretical part is completed by presentation of numerical experiments.
