Abstract
Comparative studies for a single-phase TCR are presented in this paper using a time domain frame of reference. The dynamic nonlinear and time-varying behavior of a TCR is analyzed using well known commercial software used in the power systems and power electronics field, such as PSCAD/EMTDC and PSPICE, respectively. Furthermore, an efficient model reported in literature for the time domain simulation of FACTS and Custom Power devices is also implemented in this work. All the digital simulations are validated with an experiment implemented in the laboratory. Results are reported in terms of periodic waveforms and harmonic distortion.
