Abstract :
This paper presents new solutions to the implementation of VSAT networks using multiple channels per carrier (MCPC), single channel per carrier (SCPC) and demand assigned multiple access (DAMA) technology in rural telecommunications networks. We show that by using a flexible system that permits a gradual network evolution to suit the network configuration, service requirements and traffic levels, it is possible to minimise the cost of implementing and operating such a network
