Abstract :
The next generation of the Bistatic Microwave Intrusion Sensor is driven by recent advances in technology. By taking advantage of the progress in technology, the sensor and infrastructure cost is reduced, the power consumption is reduced and the user experience is improved. Previous generations of Bistatic Microwave Sensors utilized analog signal processing and filtering. In the next generation of the Bistatic Microwave Sensor, the progress in semiconductor technology and microprocessors is taken advantage of by implementing sophisticated digital signal processing techniques in a cost effective manner. The use of digital filters and gain settings allow for remote adjustment of detection parameters including detection speed and sensitivity. Advances in RF synthesizers allow for narrow channelization of units through frequency diversity. This replaces the conventional method of modulation allowing for increased channel options and leaves the modulation of the transmitted signal as a method of communicating from the transmitter to the receiver.
