Abstract
The paper introduces long-term survey results relating to the ICT usage by secondary school graduates in the Czech Republic within the process of selecting a university and starting the university study. Data on applying for the university, collecting information about study programmes, results of entrance exams, access to the Internet, use of ICT in university education and others were collected from secondary school graduates who just enrolled in the first year of university study. Data were collected by the questionnaire method, compared and analysed. The research started in 1996/7 academic year; the research sample consists of approximately 5,000 respondents. The results clearly show the development of the role of modern technologies within the process of ICT implementation in education.
