Abstract
In the paper we present a complete analysis of the analog optical link operating at the gain peak wavelength (GPW) of 1.53 μm instead of the flat gain wavelength of 1.55 μm of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) for microwave photonic applications. It is theoretically and experimentally demonstrated that the usage of an EDFA at the GPW of 1.53 μm can significantly improve link gain in comparison to the optically-amplified link operating at the wavelength of 1.55 μm.
