Abstract :
The design and characteristics of an ultrasonic motor that uses longitudinal and torsional vibrations are described. The design is aimed at achieving a high-torque motor. This motor is characterized by the fact that the torsional stator vibrator is also used as a rotor and revolves about its length axis. Experimental results have shown that this design is suited for a high-torque ultrasonic motor. Some detailed data on the prototype motor are described. The maximum torque of the motor is improved by making the diameters of the longitudinal and torsional vibrators large
