Abstract
In this paper, chemical passivation and self assembled monolayer (SAM) were used to treat 316ss with Ag coating. At same time, the corrosion characteristic was studied by electrochemical technique. The results indicated that the two methods could not only make initial sample change from hydrophilicity to hydrophobicity but also decreased its polarization current density whether in cathodic or anodic environment. The films (passive film or SAM film) acted as a barrier between corrosion solution and Ag film. So the treated sample´s corrosion was reduced.
