Abstract :
Ontology is a conceptualization of a knowledge domain being shared by a group of users. Embedding ontology into information retrieval is a natural way to improve searching results of relevant information users needed. In this paper, we propose a model to combine information retrieval systems with the ontology which is constructed automatically from the searched information data. The ontology used in the system includes general semantic ontology, domain knowledge and automatic generated fuzzy concept hierarchy. We estimated the system following the evaluation method of ImageCLEF. According to the experimental results, the embedded ontology can improve the performance of information retrieval.
