Abstract :
Ringing artifacts occur near large edges in reconstructed low bit-rate JPEG2000 images due to the wavelet-based compression techniques. In this paper, an embedded ringing artifacts reduction scheme for low bit-rate JPEG2000 images is proposed. We adopt a local adaptive estimation for the coefficients in spatial domain and LL wavelet subband at each decomposition level before the inverse discrete wavelet transform. The method is computationally efficient and achieves PSNR improvement and human perceptual enhancement
