Abstract
Recent advances in the design of secure distributed operating systems are discussed. The two major design approaches for building a secure distributed operating system are outlined. Issues pertaining to the selection of the security model, design of mandatory access checks, design of discretionary access checks, and network security are discussed. Finally, examples of projects in the area of secure distributed operating systems are surveyed.<>
