Abstract :
GE Plastics is turning the concept of recycling into a business reality for its engineering thermoplastics. To do this, an integrative business process has been developed. This process looks at the cycle from original manufacture of raw materials and goods through post-consumer recovery of raw materials for reuse. Recycling of engineering thermoplastics is now in the first stages of commercial viability. A business model for recycling is used to describe how the recycling process is developing. Macro economic models are described for materials and durable goods industries. These are used to look at various policy alternatives for stimulating the recovery of goods and materials
